Client case study — software development

Building the wallet, subscription, and referral engine behind Tokenℤ Loyalty Club

Tokenℤ Loyalty Club needed a subscription commerce platform, a token-based wallet, and a merchant marketplace working as one system — installable on any phone without an app store. Here's what we built and how.

This case study covers the software we designed, built, and customized for the client. It does not evaluate the client's business model and makes no claims about revenue, membership scale, or commercial results.

Hear It From the Client

See how Tokenℤ Loyalty Club approached its unique platform requirements and worked with Integrated MLM Software to bring the solution to life.

01 — Requirement

What the client asked us to build

Tokenℤ came to Integrated MLM Software with a brief that crossed three usual software categories — e-commerce, digital wallets, and network-marketing referral tracking — and needed them to work as a single system, reachable from a browser rather than an app store.

Marketplace

A multi-vendor catalogue where independent merchants across many categories — automotive, beauty, food, home services, and more — could list products and services.

Subscriptions

A billing engine supporting both one-off and recurring purchases, with pricing, duration, and renewal terms set per merchant.

Wallet

A digital wallet that could hold balances, move value between members, and settle payments with merchants — online and face-to-face.

A module to track sponsorship relationships and compute rebates from subscription activity, under rules specific to the client’s program.

Distribution

A platform that behaved like a native mobile app without requiring installation from an app store.

02 — Challenge

Where the requirements didn't fit a standard template

Several requirements had no off-the-shelf answer. They needed custom engineering rather than configuration of an existing e-commerce or MLM plan.

Two transaction models in one catalogue

Some listings needed to auto-settle to the merchant as a fixed recurring charge. Others needed to load spendable credit into the member’s own wallet, to be redeemed later at a variable amount. Both needed to live in the same subscription catalogue with different wallet behavior underneath.

Cashless, in-person settlement without POS hardware

Members needed to pay merchants face-to-face using nothing but a phone browser — no dedicated card reader, no native app on either side, just a real-time confirm-and-scan exchange.

Recurring billing without holding card data

Renewals had to run automatically, on a schedule set by each merchant’s product, while keeping cardholder data off the client’s own servers entirely.

A referral structure with a reset cycle, not open-ended growth

The sponsorship relationship and rebate eligibility needed to reset on a recurring interval and be capped by a monthly quota — both configurable by an administrator, not fixed in code.

A rebate tied to a rolling metric, not a single sale

The commission engine had to evaluate an ongoing subscription value over time, rather than calculate once against a single transaction.

03 — Software solution & customization

How we built it

Rather than deploy a standard compensation-plan template, our engineering team extended a multi-vendor commerce foundation with a purpose-built wallet, subscription, and referral layer.

Extended the catalogue layer so merchants can define a product as either a fixed recurring charge or a spend-later credit, inside one admin-managed catalogue.

Built a token-based wallet ledger as its own module, separate from the payment gateway, so balances, transfers, and merchant settlement are tracked independently of the underlying card transactions.

Integrated Stripe for subscription billing, keeping card data off the client’s infrastructure while still managing renewal scheduling, expiry, and reminders in-house.

Developed a QR issuance and scanning flow, with a merchant-side scan and a member-side confirm-and-password step before any wallet transfer finalizes.

Implemented referral and subscription-value rules — reset intervals, quota limits, rebate percentages — as configurable settings in the admin layer, not hard-coded logic.

Packaged the member application as a Progressive Web App on a dedicated subdomain, with install prompts and an offline-capable shell, instead of two native codebases.

System breakdown

What each part of the platform does

The functional areas below make up the delivered system. They aren't a build sequence — each runs independently inside the same platform.

Member management

Registration, wallet and order history, sponsor assignment, and account security settings including a separate wallet password used to authorize transfers.

A support workflow is built into the account area so members can raise and track issues directly from their profile.

Merchant functionality

Merchants list products across a wide range of categories, with each listing reviewed and approved by an administrator before it publishes.

Merchants receive settlement in the platform’s token currency at time of sale and can convert their balance to cash on demand, rather than waiting on a delayed payout cycle.

PWA & mobile experience

The member application installs directly from the browser to a device home screen and opens in an app-like window on later visits, on Android, iOS, and desktop.

Updates deploy centrally to the web app, so every member runs the current version without a manual update.

Wallet & transactions

Wallet balances hold at a fixed 1:1 relationship to local currency inside the network and don’t expire. Direct-purchase items convert and transfer to the merchant automatically at checkout; over-the-counter items load spendable credit into the member’s own wallet for later use.

Members can transfer tokens to each other directly. In-person redemption runs through a QR code the merchant scans, with the member reviewing the exact charge before approving it with a wallet password. Every transaction logs to both parties’ history.

Referral & network functionality

A referral module assigns sponsorship relationships between members and calculates a percentage rebate tied to subscription activity, built to the client’s program rules — including a periodic reset of relationships and an admin-configurable cap on new referrals per period.

This section describes implemented software behavior only; it isn’t a representation of the program’s effectiveness or classification.

Subscription functionality

The platform is structured around a subscription catalogue rather than a one-off storefront. Each item is merchant-defined and admin-approved, specifying cost, quantity, and recurrence from a single transaction up to ongoing billing.

The system tracks each member’s running subscription activity and sends renewal reminders ahead of expiry.

Admin & reporting

The admin layer covers merchant and product approval, subscription catalogue management, wallet and referral ledger oversight, and member and merchant account administration.

A rolling subscription-value metric drives rebate eligibility. Referral relationships reset on a fixed interval, capped by a monthly quota per member. Dual transaction handling and step-up wallet authentication run as configurable rules, not fixed defaults.

04 — Outcome

What the implementation delivered

The engagement produced a single platform unifying a merchant marketplace, subscription billing, a token wallet, and referral tracking — reachable from any modern browser, with no app-store dependency.

Recurring and one-off billing processed through a third-party gateway, with no cardholder data stored on the client’s servers.

A working in-person payment method usable by any participating merchant without dedicated POS hardware.

A referral and rebate engine reflecting the client’s specific reset and quota rules, not a generic compensation template.

A Progressive Web App deployment removing dependency on app-store submission and review cycles.

Scope note. These outcomes describe the software delivered and its technical behavior. They are not a statement about Tokenℤ Loyalty Club’s business performance, membership scale, regulatory standing, or long-term viability — all of which fall outside the scope of this software case study.

The software was customized around our business model instead of forcing us to change our operations.
